RECYCLEMAN (Ex. Ali En) PRIHAJA V IZOLSKI HANGAR BAR Ob 30 obletnici izida plošče Leva scena , ki je takrat dodobra pretresla slovensko glasbeno sceno, nas bo kralj slovenskega rapa, Recycleman (ex. Ali en) počastil z nastopom v izolskem Hangar baru.

Z duetom The Lunar year sem naredila
tudi kratek intervju. Objavila ga bom kar v angleškem jeziku, ker je
to Connorjev domači jezik. Zdelo se mi je, da bo bolj zanimiv, če
ga pustim v originalu. Želim vam prijetno branje.
THE
LUNAR YEAR
"You’re
awesome and thanks for taking time out of your ever busy lives to
listen to the songs that we have put our love and souls into! Come to
a show and we can party soon, peace."
How would you present the duet
The Lunar Year, to someone that doesn't know you?
Connor: The Lunar Year is a pop
punk duo from two different countries and backgrounds. I think we’re
pretty unique in a lot of ways, we’ve both came from working in
genres different to the music we are creating in TLY but also grew up
mostly on pop punk so we’re back to our roots which is awesome for
us.
Why did you choose this
particular name? What does it mean to you?
Connor:The
name The Lunar Year came from watching countless sci-fi shows on
Netflix and being obsessed with horoscopes and all things space
related. It’s a bit of a weird obsession of mine, i love it.
You have a very interesting
story about your start. There aren't many duets that happen online.
What was your first meeting live like?
Connor: It
is a little different the way we came together - but also a really
modern way of doing it! For me it wasn’t strange because it’s
almost the exact same way as how The Vamps started 10 years ago. Our
first meeting in real life felt like we’d known each other for
years. I think because we’d already clicked musically online it was
easy!
How do you compliment and
differ from each other, character wise?
Connor:
It’s great because we are similar in so many ways which helps us
make decisions about the band and everything else but also musically
it’s great because we have different ideas that seem to compliment
each other without us having to think too hard about it. Sasa has
such awesome rhythm ideas that compliment the melodies that I would
write but when coupled together feels like it’s fresh and new.
5. I want to know what do you think
about Croatia? Do you like coming here? What do
you like, or dislike about it.
Connor: Honestly
Croatia is a special place for me! It feels like a real full circle
moment because I went on a family holiday there years ago and which I
loved it so much. We went to a place that I remember as being called
‘Red Island’ and was one of the most beautiful places i’ve ever
been! Since then I always wanted more reasons to go back and for the
reason to play and record music is just the perfect world for me.
What kind of message do you aim
to send to people with your music?
Connor: I
think there’s a fair few messages we’d like to spread with The
Lunar Year’s music. There’s so much anxiety and hate in the world
right now and sometimes putting into words how you might be feeling
is pretty tough but having songs that you can relate to about those
feelings for me personally really really helps. So if we can create
some inspiring lyrics or melodies that help people come to terms with
how they’re feeling then that’s awesome.
How do you coordinate? How do
you make lyrics and music? Who does what?
Connor: It’s
kinda cool because we’re both so open minded to how we’re gonna
create our songs so there’s been a couple different ways we’ve
started tracks. Whether it’s with a lyric or a melody or a guitar
part, it doesn’t really matter as long as it makes us feel
something then we’ll go from there. Funnily, our song Back For More
came from me in the shower singing ‘I hate you but I can relate to
you’ then we took it away and worked on it into the song it is
today. It’s funny how songs present themselves to you sometimes.
In your opinion, what does a
song need to become loved or popular?
Connor: When
you’re talking about songs like pop songs I think people don’t
realise how much songwriting ‘math’ and thought has gone into a
lot of these songs before they turned out the way they are. But I
think many songs as long as they make you feel a certain way whether
it be happy, sad, nostalgic etc then the song has done its job and
this is the reason why they go popular.
What are your plans for the
future?
Connor: Plans
for the future! Release an album, tour the album, be content with
however the music and touring did. Then back around! We have a real
love for what we’re doing so feel super lucky!
What do you expect from the
concert in Opatija?
Connor: I
honestly don’t know what exactly to expect but I do know that
Croatian people are some of the nicest i’ve ever met so I’m sure
we will be welcomed with open arms! Sum 41 are a band we both grew up
with so to be playing a show with them is an honour. I did a cover of
In Too Deep on one of our arena tours with The Vamps so to be playing
a show with them now in TLY is a full circle special moment for me.
What would you like to tell the
people that listen to your work?
Connor: Anyone
listening to our music, thank you! You’re awesome and thanks for
taking time out of your ever busy lives to listen to the songs that
we have put our love and souls into! Come to a show and we can
party soon, peace.
